Arrowhead Golf Club

Beginner Experience Instructor
Verbena McIlwaine, a Charlotte, NC native, is known in the golf community as the Butterfly Golfer. This term was coined after facing challenges that tested her strength & resilience, both at home and in the workplace, during the 2020 pandemic. In overcoming those obstacles, she found a renewed sense of freedom & empowerment through the game of golf. As the founder of the Butterfly Golf Brand and Initiative, she encourages and supports other women to join the golf community and discover a sense of freedom on and off the course in their life's journey.
She is the proud mother of one daughter, Renek, and is the oldest of 4 siblings. She has been an active professional cosmetologist for 36 years and has an entrepreneurial spirit at heart. She is currently an LPGA Apprentice and is looking forward to using those credentials to continue to build the confidence and skills of women golfers.

Audrey Goins Cormier
A passionate advocate for women in business and golf, Audrey Goins Cormier is the founder of Let’s Chat About Golf, a virtual community where women golfers connect, grow, and lead through the game. A former trustee and Hall of Fame inductee of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Audrey has championed supplier diversity and women-owned businesses at the national level. Today, she brings that same energy to golf, using it as a platform for mentorship, leadership, and inclusion.
Audrey serves on the board of First Tee Oakland and is a tournament official with the WGANC Women’s Subcommittee. Her recent honors include being named 2023 Woman of the Year by Congressman John Garamendi and receiving Auburn University’s Distinguished Alumni Award. She is also the author of Let’s Chat About Golf, where she explores how the game opens doors to career advancement and community building.
